Font - Posted by u/theFamooos 1 day ago Won't turn your radio down? I work as an electrician in a major metropolitan area. Many years ago I was part of a big crew working on a years long project for a multinational's pet food brand. Factory, Research, offices, etc.

Font - One building was for research and development. Because this was essentially a lab, it had tons of dedicated circuits, which are where one outlet is fed by one breaker in the panel. Because of this we were pulling tons of wire thru conduits. Full days spent spent pulling bundles from point A to point B.

Font - Of course all the other trades were working on their own things as well, and we all got along fine, except for the floor guys. They would plug a radio in and crank it up while they worked. Most days nobody minded, but when we are doing wire pulls you need to be

Font - able to hear the guy at the other end of the pipe. Basically they have to pull when you feed, and you need to be able to shout "stop!" or "ok!" etc.

Font - So we asked nicely if the floor guys could turn the music off, or at least down, while we were doing this. They refused. I remember one guy saying "we gotta have our jams man! We can't work without them."

Font - An old timer I worked with, I'll call Ollie, was cool but took no cr.ip. And he hatched a plan. The floor guys plugged their radio into the same plug every day. Ollie had me find which circuit controlled that plug. And told me to get there a little early the next morning. So I did.

Font - The next morning Ollie had the 277 volt panel opened up as well as the 120 volt panel that fed the plug the floor guys used. And we jumpered a wire from the 277 volt panel to the plug they used for their radio. Basically feeding more than twice as much electricity to that

Font - A few minutes go by and the floor guys show up. Plug their radio in and turn it on. No sound comes out but some smoke sure does. I high tail it back to the electrical room and Ollie and I quickly put everything back to normal. A couple minutes later one of the

Font - floor guys finds us and tells us that plug isn't working. Ollie grabs a corded drill and heads over to it. Plugs it and fires up the drill and says “seems like it's working fine. Maybe your radio is busted?" And as he heads back I hear him say "let's see if you can't work without your fu king jams..."

Font - We finished our wire pulls in blessed silence and that radio never worked again.

Font - ScottLS +1 . 1 day ago I used to have an ex electrician on my crew, he would do almost the same thing. On new house builds if someone was playing music he didn't like or too loud, he would just turn that breaker off. Honestly he was probably hungover every morning and just didn't want any extra noise.

Font - Cavy-kimKits123 - 1 day ago One of the rules I notice when I pass a construction site is "No Loud Music ". It's to prevent distractions. I'm surprised that these guys were allowed to be so noisy. Great job with the circuit breaker!

Font - 1 day ago If you disrespect others, that's what you will get back from others. They should have turned their music down respectfully. Reply Share Sonny-Moone-8888 3
